Gilman Home Center to Open

November 28, 2007

CENTERVILLE, Ind. -- A regional home improvement store chain announced Tuesday it will open a location in the former 84 Lumber Co. building to expand its business to Wayne County.  Gilman Home Center purchased the building less than a month ago, said operations manager Tim Timmons.  The nearly 25,000-square-foot store, which will open in February, will provide 20 to 25 jobs, most of them full time.

"We've been looking around that way for at least the last six months or so," he said. "There were a combination of things such as a location and opportunity. To have a building that fits our needs come up for sale makes it easier."   Timmons said the building is larger than the other five stores the company has across Indiana and Ohio.

Gilman Home Center will carry products to spruce home décor, cabinets and flooring along with a lumber yard.  The store will carry clothing and have a Bass Pro brand fishing and hunting area inside, he said.
